BIO
A self-taught artist, Jordan Laura MacLachlan was born in Toronto and continues to live and work there. She works with clay and mixed media, and has shown her work in solo and group exhibitions internationally, including the National Museum of Natural Science in Ottawa, the exhibition “Ineffable Plasticity: the experience of being human” at the Museum of Contemporary Canadian Art in Toronto, and the American Visionary Art Museum, Baltimore.
Her work is included in a variety of corporate and institutional collections including the Stiftelson Sor-Troms Museum, Harstaad, Norway, The Robert McLaughlin Gallery, Oshawa, the Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery, Waterloo, and The Art Gallery of Burlington.
Artist Statement: The work I do must always be compelling, and have meaning to me, otherwise I am not driven to make art at all. As an artist I come from an instinctual place while at the same time making a conscious effort to clearly and respectfully reflect the way I see life unfolding all around me.
